What's in a Name?

Here are some questions for you to consider:

1. Can a breeder include, within the registered name of a new puppy, without permission, the name of another kennel? Is this even allowed?

2. Why would a breeder name a puppy the exact same name as an existing CH dog from that same kennel who has already been diagnosed with a genetic disease? Is this even allowed?

The following link gives the guidelines for the CKC and the AKC:

"Originality is important when choosing a show dog name. The American Kennel Club (AKC) (and Canadian Kennel Club (CKC)) doesn't allow duplicate dog names, and will ask you to choose another name if your pick is already taken."
